How to Make Wooden Bow and Arrows

Want to go back in history? You can try your hand at making a bow and arrow then. If hunting and archery are your favorite hobbies, make your very own bows and arrows and impress your friends and family.
So, let us get started. Pick a perfect piece of deadwood. If you fail to find one, you can use oak, teak, black locust, hazel, yew and elm as well. For a well-built bow, you would require a one-inch thick wood, which is about five to six feet in length. Make sure the wood is flexible, so that you can bend it in the shape of a bow. Carve the bow in such a way that it is wide at the center and slender on the sides. Cut 2 notches on both ends of the wood, one to two inches in length and half an inch deep in diameter at an angle of 90 degrees. For a bowstring, you can use a nylon rope, cotton threads, vines, rawhide, hemp cord and sinew. To increase the strength of the bow, you have to make a short bowstring. Next, attach one end of the string to the notch, place your feet on the bow, pull the ends of the wood towards yourself and attach the other end of the string to the other notch. Your bow is ready.
For arrows, pick a straight wood that is half an inch thick and half the length of the bow. You can use black locust, elm or oak. Carve the arrow; make arrowheads in the front and a notch on the other end. Add some feathers on the rear end, space them equally. Your arrow is ready.
Happy hunting!
